Teaching time is 21 hours each week, excluding registration, breaks and our daily act of collective worship.
The doors are opened at 8.50 a.m (Years 1 and 2) for the children to put away their belongings and take out a reading book ready for their learning to start at 9.00am. Our Registers are open from 9.00am. Please see your children safely through the doors in the morning, do not leave them in the playground as we cannot take responsibility for the children's safety. Reception children are taken into the classroom by a member of staff once the bell is rung at 9.00am. If your child is late, please bring him/her to the school office to be marked in the register, and sign the 'late book'. Registers & doors close at 9.05 a.m. after which your child will be marked late.
We send an annual absence report to the DfE, and to keep our registers accurately, require written explanations for any absence from school.
We have to register an absence as unauthorised if no explanation is received. We similarly have to register unexplained lateness as unauthorised.
Our lunch break is from 12.00 - 1.00 daily. Reception children have their lunch 11.30-12.30pm. Children may either have a school dinner or bring a packed lunch.
Hertfordshire Catering provide our school lunches which are cooked in the school kitchen. We operate the Pupil Choice system so that there is a choice of a meat/fish meal (red), a vegetarian meal (green), or a school packed lunch (yellow). All our children in Years R, 1 and 2 are entitled to a free meal. Parents/Carers choose the meal with their child each day and the children inform the teacher of their choice. The menus run on a three weekly cycle and are displayed on the wall in the canteen and often on the classroom doors or windows. Please also see the link to the menus above.
Children may bring a packed lunch in a clearly marked container which should be put on the class trolley in the Canteen before school starts and collected at the end of the day. You may provide a carton or a plastic bottle of drink, but please do not send cans or glass bottles.
The children are supervised in the Canteen and playground by a team of Midday Supervisory Assistants and/or school staff.
Milk can be provided for your child if you require it. This needs to be paid for termly in advance at the school office. Children who do not like milk may bring a water bottle to school. Water bottles can be purchased from the school office.
If your child has a medical appointment please let us know. When you come to collect your child please report to the office and we will collect him/her from the classroom. Upon their return please return to the school office and the child will be taken back to their class group. We will require proof of your medical appointment for the absence to be authorised.
It is important to remember to dress your child in clothes that he/she can dress and undress in easily and shoes that they can fasten independently. Children are encouraged to wear school uniform as follows:
These should be kept in a drawstring bag on the child's coat peg.
Please ensure that all clothing and footwear are clearly named.

Can I remind you that we are not able to hand over children to an adult different from the one who normally collects them unless we have received a note or message, (by telephone or given in person by their parent). This is for your child's protection.
Please collect your child promptly from school and leave the premises promptly. The playground equipment and facilities are not for use by the children or their siblings after the end of the school day and the school cannot accept any liability or responsibility for any accidents that may occur after the end of the school day. The school gates will be locked at 3.30pm.
If we experience severe weather conditions this winter causing the school to be closed you will receive a text message as early as possible in the morning (if you have given the office your up to date details) of the decision to close. Additionally the information for all schools will be linked to the home page of www.hertsdirect.org. under the 'Severe Weather' tab.
We hold details of some local Childminders in the school office and you can request a copy of these. However this is an information service and does not imply any endorsement by the school.
