Welcome to Reception 2017

We are Europe and Asia classes

Do you want to be friends?

We are going to be working with our topic all about friends.  As we are just starting school, we will be making lots of new friends.  We will ask questions like 'do you want to be friends?', would you like to play with me?  In October we will invite our parents to come and share what we have learnt.

We drew pictures of all our friends

our families joined us in school and we made gingerbread men too.

Why do squirrels hide their nuts?

Why do squirrels hide their nuts? Why do hedgehogs hibernate?  We will explore these questions and more in our new topic this Autumn.

We explored our conservation area and compared it to what it looks like in summer. We looked for clues about autumn

We have enjoyed our lovely topic all about Autumn and hibernating animals.

Can I switch it on?

We are very excited about this project.  We are going to find out how things work and if we can switch things on whilst we are exploring technology, but more exciting is that we are going to meet Robots and command them to do things for us.

A Robot specialist brought us robots to explore. It was so exciting...

We had such amazing fun with this topic and we learnt so much too.

Will you read me a story?

Was the big bad wolf really so bad? How many bowls of porridge did Goldilocks eat? We will explore these questions and more in this magical topic.

We had an amazing storytelling workshop which took our imaginations far far away.....

What is your favourite fairytale?

Why do ladybirds have spots?

Why do ladybirds have spots? Why do spiders spin webs?  We will explore these questions and more during our exciting topic on minibeasts

Jungle Jo came to see us with her amazing (not so mini...) minibeasts. It was fantastic!

We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this topic. Our teachers made us some fantastic activities.

Who lives in a rockpool?

Which creatures live on the seashore? Why do crabs have shells?  We will explore these questions and many more in our exciting topic about the sealife....

We visited the Aquarium to see live rockpool creatures. We were allowed to touch them too....

Look at all our work....
