In year one this Autumn half term the topic has been ‘Ourselves.’
We have been learning about our environment and local area. In geography we have drawn maps and visited Hatfield Forest to develop our mapping skills. We also went on an autumn walk and learnt about hedgehogs. Can your child remember how many spines a hedgehog has?
In maths we have covered addition, subtraction and shape. We learnt the names and properties of 3d shapes and found real objects in our environment. The children have practised counting daily and have worked hard on their number formation.
In English and topic, we have studied Harvest and really enjoyed the story of The Little Red Hen. We also learnt about poetry and stories with familiar patterns.
Each week the two classes have been really enthusiastic in participating in tennis coaching. They have also developed their balls skills in P.E.
As well as painting self-portraits, everybody took part in art day and the pupils were thoroughly engrossed when studying the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
